Trixie

Available for Adoption

  • Sex: Female
  • Neutered/Spayed: yes
  • Age: 6 years best guess
  • Weight: 65lbs
  • Coat (color and length): mostly black, some white, medium
  • Activity Level: unknown (see bio)
  • Biography: Trixie is a 6 year old border collie or mix that I picked up off the street in 2019 (as I do) and my roommate fell in love with her.  Unfortunately, said roommate has now had to move into assisted living and I know that alone am unable to give her the full and active life she needs.  Trixie spent most of the last few years in her “dad’s” room, just hanging out and snuggling, though I expect she’d appreciate a more active lifestyle.  She is housetrained, “border collie smart” and knows a few commands despite her training being quite spotty.  She is funny, cuddly, and so very full of personality, loooves people, but is dog aggressive and has a strong prey drive*.  Trixie would be an excellent solo pet for the right person or family.

*I have another dog and three cats, and Trixie is fine with all of them, and used to be fine with other dogs, even foster kittens, but one day, like, a switch flipped in her head and suddenly she was aggressive to any animal outside our household.

Romeo

Available for Adoption

  • Male, Neutered
  • 4 Years Old
  • 50 Pounds
  • Short, Thick Coat
  • Up to date on vaccines

Romeo loves to run, but can also be a couch potato. He does not know how to play with toys. I’ve bought several for him and he ignores them. He has anxiety/separation issues, which manifest as shaking, yelping, and shedding hair. I have not seen him around children, but was told that he was part of a pack originally. When the pack leader died, he started nipping the other dogs, and the owner decided to give him to the local shelter.  With research, I found that he was probably trying to find the new pack leader.  If he was trained and exercised well, I think that he would be a lot more social. He can do very well with people after meeting them, but at the moment prefers one person.  I am moving and cannot take him with me, so this very critical that he be placed soon.

Margo

Available for Adoption

Sex: Female, spayed

Age: 7 years

Weight: 64 lbs

Coat: orange and white, medium length

Activity level: low to moderate, tires easily

Biography:

We are looking to find a loving and patient home for our very sweet dog, Margo. We adopted Margo from a shelter about 7 months ago and unfortunately she is not working out in our home. We adopted her from a high-kill shelter, and when we saw her our heart went out to her. She was so beautiful, but terrified of the noise and chaos of the busy shelter. We decided to take a chance on her and get her out of that setting. We do not know anything about her past or where she came from, but have the sense that she has some past trauma in her life.

She takes some time to warm up to new people, but once she does she is very sweet and just wants to cuddle and get belly rubs and head scratches. She seems to warm up quicker to women than men. Despite being part border collie, she is a lower energy dog. She loves walks in the neighborhood, hikes in the woods, and car rides but she’s also very content to lay around the house. She has wonderful manners; she does not jump up, does not beg for food, and is generally a very easy dog to care for.

The reason we are needing to find a new home for her is that we have children, the youngest being 2 years old. Margo does not like him in the least little bit, and goes in another direction when he comes near. We watch him closely with Margo, and he’s not aggressive or mean to her in any way, but she just won’t warm up to him. On two occasions now she has snapped at him without provocation, and we are at a point where we feel we have given her time to adjust and we now have to protect our son. She just doesn’t like him and we need to find her a home without young children before a bite happens. She is great with our older children. She truly is a wonderful dog, she just needs a different environment without young kids. Another thing to bring up is she also has a small growth at the base of her tail. It has been seen by a vet, who said it was difficult to say exactly what is was without removal and testing. Her thought was it was a benign growth, but without biopsy is was hard for her to say for sure. It does not cause her any pain or discomfort and she has no issues going to the bathroom. We cannot pay to have it removed and tested just to know what it is when it doesn’t cause her any issues to begin with.

We realize it will take a special person to want to take a chance on her, I’m hoping this post reaches that person. She’s a great dog with a lot of love. We are really trying to avoid putting her in a shelter, but we don’t have much time to wait.

  • Sex: Female

  • Age: 8 years old
  • Weight: 40 Pounds
  • Coat (color and length): Black and white, medium length

Biography

Rory, an 8-year-old border collie/lab mix, is an intelligent, cuddly, fun girl! She has been a family dog for the last 7 years, but has recently begun showing aggression towards another family pet and therefore needs to find a home that better suits her needs. Rory is an incredible family dog 90% of the time. She is well trained with basic obedience (sit, down, off, place, wait, here, etc) and is off-leash trained. She loves to chase a frisbee (approximately 4 times before she wants to cuddle instead). She is very affectionate and rolls over for belly rubs. She is potty-trained and crate-trained. She currently lives in a home with two small children and cats without a problem. However, as Rory does come with some challenges, we highly recommend she go to a home that has experience with herding breeds. She is territorial of her home and is nervous around strangers which can result in barking and potential nipping if not introduced properly. She is more comfortable, in general, with women. The recent aggression towards her sibling is new and the only dog aggression she has shown. She currently lives in the home with a third dog that isn’t a problem, has had a variety of foster dogs come and go in her home, and attends a kennel-free boarding facility. Although Rory does come with some areas of improvement, she truly is a wonderful and loyal dog. We believe she would be incredibly successful in a home in which someone had the capacity to continue her training. If it wasn’t for the safety of our other dog, there is no way we would let her go. Nymeria

Available for Adoption

My name is Nymeria, but everyone calls me Miri (MIR-EE).

I am a 6.5 year old spayed female, red and white, 48 pound Border Collie-Aussie mix. My owners have had me since I was a puppy, but their life changed unexpectedly and now to no fault of my own I’m looking for my new forever home. I am a sweet girl with good manners. All I want is to please and love my people! I have good manners, I am house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and travel beautifully! I know my basic obedience, sit, stay, down, and shake. I think chasing cats is a fun game, and while I’m not dog aggressive, I am an alpha and want to be the top dog. Because I think I’m the boss, I have to go to a home with no cats or dogs, but I do love all humans! I do bark when I get really excited, or if I think there is stranger danger, but I will quiet down quickly when I’m told.

I’m up to date on all my vaccines, have current and normal bloodwork with urinalysis, negative for heartworms and intestinal parasites. Currently on flea, tick and heartworm prevention. I will have a dental and survey x-rays soon! I am currently in Cocoa, Florida.

Please contact Erin Harmening at Parkway Animal Hospital for more info. 321-749-8543 (text is best) or erin.a.burger@gmail.com. Hurry I will place quickly, I just can’t wait for all my belly rubs!!!

Winston

Available for Adoption

  • Border Collie Great Pyrenees mix
  • Sex: Male, Neutered/Spayed: Intact, though appointment has been made
  • Age: 14 months, 65 pounds
  • Coat: black and white, long
  • Activity Level: medium energy, tires easily

Biography:

Winston is a 14 month old 65 pound Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix looking for a forever home! His favorite activities include being an oversized lap dog, rolling around with his lab brother, playing fetch (though never bringing it back), and never leaving his owner’s side. He is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He knows several different obedience commands and picks up new skills with ease. He is great with both dogs and cats. Winston is protective of the ones he loves due to the nature of his Pyrenees side so he alert barks and doesn’t get along well with strangers. He has had issues in the past with stranger anxiety and has been in behavioral training for the past 3 months but has made extreme progress. Winston needs to find a home where someone has the time, patience and space to continue his training. A fenced yard is necessary to safely expel energy, patrol the perimeter and act like the dog he was meant to be!

Luna

Available for Adoption

  • Border Collie, Tri-Color, 42 lbs., AKC Registered
  • Female, Spayed, 1 year 10 months
  • High Activity Level/Athletic
  • Woodstock, GA

Bio:

Looking to rehome Luna, a 1 year 10 month old, tri-color border collie. Luna is crazy about kayaking, swimming, frisbees, Chuck-it balls, her agility tunnel, 4 mile runs, hiking, snuggles, and baby sitting her chickens. She has learned, from her sister, to be a guardian dog. She is a Covid pup and has no social skills. I have been working on her socialization as she doesn’t like little people (kids) and men seem to be an issue with her. She has become aggressive with my Great Pyrenees/golden mix and each fight has gotten progressively worse. I have consulted with a trainer and things are only getting worse. For the health and safety of my dogs and myself I need to find her a forever home that is best for her. My heart is broken but her well being is the priority. A home with no dogs and someone that is very active would be best for her.
