Ayrie

Available for Adoption

  • Dog’s name: Ayrie (pronounced air-ee)
  • Female
  • Spayed
  • almost 11 (birthday 12/10/11)
  • 55 lbs
  • Coat is brown and white, long haired
  • Activity level: very lazy! She does well with a short walk or tennis ball throwing session a day, otherwise she just likes to relax at home.
  • Biography: Ayrie is everything! She is a gentle, extremely affectionate, laid back senior who is ready to be your new best friend. Her favorite things in the world are the tennis ball, riding in the car, and being wherever you are! She has had a few teeth removed, but other than that has a clean bill of health. She would be best as an only pet, but has lived with several other dogs before and does best with submissive, calm dogs and has never been around cats. She has lived both indoors and outdoors and is potty trained, but she loves being inside curled up on a cozy bed the most. She walks really well on the leash, knows how to sit and will put out a paw to shake when she wants pets! Ayrie does not need to be in a home with younger children, as she has snapped at small kids before in an attempt to “herd” them (no one was hurt though!). Please reach out if Ayrie is your new best friend!

Winston

Available for Adoption

  • Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix, black and white, 14 months, 65 lbs.
  • Intact Male, though appointment has been made
  • Activity level: medium energy, tires easily
  • Athens, Georgia

Biography:

Winston is a 14 month old 65lb Border Collie/Great Pyrenees mix looking for a forever home! His favorite activities include being an oversized lap dog, rolling around with his lab brother, playing fetch (though never bringing it back), and never leaving his owner’s side. He is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He knows several different obedience commands and picks up new skills with ease. He is great with both dogs and cats. Winston is protective of the ones he loves due to the nature of his Pyrenees side so he alert barks and doesn’t get along well with strangers. He has had issues in the past with stranger anxiety and has been in behavioral training for the past 3 months but has made extreme progress. Winston needs to find a home where someone has the time, patience and space to continue his training. A fenced yard is necessary to safely expel energy, patrol the perimeter and act like the dog he was meant to be!

Luna

Available for Adoption

  • Border Collie, Tri-Color, 42 lbs., AKC Registered
  • Female, Spayed, 1 year 10 months
  • High Activity Level/Athletic
  • Woodstock, GA

Bio:

Looking to rehome Luna, a 1 year 10 month old, tri-color border collie. Luna is crazy about kayaking, swimming, frisbees, Chuck-it balls, her agility tunnel, 4 mile runs, hiking, snuggles, and baby sitting her chickens. She has learned, from her sister, to be a guardian dog. She is a Covid pup and has no social skills. I have been working on her socialization as she doesn’t like little people (kids) and men seem to be an issue with her. She has become aggressive with my Great Pyrenees/golden mix and each fight has gotten progressively worse. I have consulted with a trainer and things are only getting worse. For the health and safety of my dogs and myself I need to find her a forever home that is best for her. My heart is broken but her well being is the priority. A home with no dogs and someone that is very active would be best for her.

Larry

Available for Adoption

  • 1-year-old border collie mix
  • Neutered male
  • Raleigh, North Carolina
  • 43 pounds

“Meet Larry, a 43-pound, 1-year-old Border Collie mix. Larry is a super sweet boy. He is house-trained, active but not hyper and good with most other dogs (cats unknown). Larry is heart-worm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His vaccinations are up to date. Larry sleeps quietly through the night in a crate, does well with a bath, and is great with car rides.

“Larry is a smart little guy, who enjoys to learning new tricks, he knows sit, lay down, leave it, drop, shake, high five, and wait. He also enjoys scent games and playing with other dogs. He is an affectionate cuddler who wants to be with his people and really likes when they are all together. Larry enjoys a hike, but also enjoys hanging in the house near his people. He will sleep by you while you work with a couple of short potty breaks.

“Larry has had a bit of a bumpy start at life, he was adopted from a rescue, but shortly after, he was surrendered due to volatility in the adopter’s home. He has since been in a foster home. Larry is building his confidence every day and has grown exponentially. He is learning to trust through stability and compassionate interactions. As with many young dogs in COVID, Larry has not had many opportunities for socialization and will need gradual introductions with new people and activities.

“Larry is a gentle boy that will flourish in a predictable, stable environment. He needs an experienced pet owner who can provide a consistent routine, praise, boundaries, and affection.

“We are asking for Veterinary reference and a $200 adoption fee, the fee can be escrowed for training, with receipts.

Guppy

Available for Adoption

  • 1-year-old Border Collie mix
  • female
  • Salisbury, North Carolina

“Guppy is a super sweet, kind, and loving little girl. Gets along with everyone, loves to play and chew on treat-stuffed toys. She is crate trained and house-trained, walks great on a leash, is learning her basic commands and tricks. She loves to play with toys in the house, wrestle with her buddies, or cuddle on the couch. Her strong hound nature makes her fairly serious about ‘hunting’ bugs, birds, squirrels and small animals outside, so she requires supervision outside and a securely fenced yard. She is up to date on her shots, is spayed, and is around 1 year old.

“Guppy is a silly goof-ball, but is independent and adventurous, will bark at intruders, but absolutely loves people and dogs. She’s still somewhat puppy-like but has some good manners and some training now. She has a lot of hound or terrier-type personality (most likely she is a Feist/BC mix) in addition to some of the Border Collie-type traits. She will likely chase cats, but could maybe be trained or desensitized to this, depending on the cats.

“She has moderate energy, and could run/play for hours outside, or hang out inside when it’s raining just as easily. She would be great with someone that likes to hike and/or has some time to spend with her daily. She would probably be amazing at Scent-Work (nose work), or Barn Hunt competition.

“She would not be suitable as an off-leash dog (maybe after extensive training), nor being left outside for long periods as she will dig out and go ‘hunting’ on her own. She has a habit of picking up and eating anything organic that she can find – bugs, hairballs, leaves, etc., and will chew on non-edible things also, like toy stuffing, wire, plastic pieces, etc., so she must be watched and/or kept from random things getting into her mouth, as we don’t know if she would actually swallow anything dangerous. We’re working on the “drop it” command with good success, but the drive to eat anything she can find is strong. For these reasons, we think an experienced dog owner would be required for this wonderful, silly little girl.

“In order to become Guppy’s new family, an adoption application and home visit will be a requirement, in addition to the adoption fee of $250 (which will be donated to one of the great rescue organizations in the area).”

Riley

Available for Adoption

  • 3.5-year-old Border Collie
  • Male
  • Brookhaven, Georgia (metro Atlanta)

“Riley is a 3.5-year-old Border Collie with white hair and brown spots. When I rescued him in 2017, he was underweight and undeniably came from an abusive household. I’ve worked intensely with him, beginning from the basics of learning the feeling on love where he used to cower when we tried to pet him. He has come such a long way, and now understands most commands (sit, stay, lay down, go to your crate, etc.) but still gets overly excited when trying to greet people. Riley loves his crate and is completely house-trained. When he’s running in the backyard and chasing the squirrels in the trees, there’s nothing but pure joy on his face. We have two other dogs who Riley gets along with great, but they are smaller than him so his idea of playing can come off as overbearing, and unfortunately, he is just too big for our household.”

“Riley would thrive in a home where he could run outside (fenced in) and have a routine both physically and mentally (training). He loves his people, is obedient and is a great protector but he does not have experience around young children so I’m not sure how he would do with kids or their toys around and would be uncomfortable saying differently. I think the ideal owner that would either be a runner and could exercise with him, or someone who would be able to dedicate time each day to really play with him at a park or in the backyard. All he wants is to be loved and it breaks my heart that we can’t give him the attention he needs and deserves. There’s nothing I want more than to see Riley be rehoused in a happy household and never feel abandonment.”
