About Tessy
Tessy is a very energetic, loving 5-year-old border collie. She is a Velcro dog, who wants to be by your side 24/7 and will sit with her head in your lap all the time, if you let her. She is also a silly dog who loves to play with toys, fetch in the backyard, and chase a herding ball.
Tessy has a lot of energy, but has an “off” switch as long as she has playtime throughout the day. She really is at her best when she can chase her ball for hours or go on long hikes, but on busy days, she’s happy just playing tug in the house or lounging at her person’s side.
Tessy will chase any ball you throw and she can leap high in order to catch it. She would no doubt excel at agility or other dog sports. Tessy learns quickly and knows sit, lay down, heel, come, shake, and spin. She’s been working on weaving tricks and jumps and she is fantastic.
Tessy needs to be an only dog. She will herd other dogs (and probably cats and small children). She is a huge cuddler and will snuggle with you on the couch or bed. She is happiest when she is with her person.
Tessy is fully crate trained and sleeps in her crate at night (but she wouldn’t mind sleeping on the bed!) She’s house trained but deals with incontinence as a medical issue. She will let you know when she has to go out and takes medication for her condition.
Like many border collies, she is sensitive to loud noises and can be anxious. She is incredibly intelligent and athletic and her main goal is to please. She requires a physical, fenced yard (no apartments or condos) far away from traffic. She needs someone with border collie experience who is home most of the time. No cats, children, or other dogs, please.
Tessy would thrive in a home where she can be spoiled with toys and affection, as well a lots of hikes and playtime with her person.
PRBCR needs a satisfactory vet reference with records of annual exam, vaccines, heartworm test, and purchase records for your dogs monthly year round heartworm preventatives, and vetting for cats.
