About Zip fka Dexter
Strikingly handsome, 3-year old Zip has completed his heart worm treatment so is now healthy and ready to ride off into the sunset with his new family. A smart guy who loves to climb up on a friendly lap and lay his head on your chest, Zip will go out of his way to be sure he is touching some part of you. Zipper gets along with his foster siblings but would also do very well as an only dog-child as he is more into people than other dogs. Running is his favorite exercise but Zip also likes to play tug, has a giggle-ball he loves to retrieve and plays in the spray from the garden hose. Zip is sharing living quarters with our dog-savvy cat but is rather obsessed with it so would do better without the temptation of a household cat in his new home.
Zip’s lineage is 1/2 border collie, 1/4 Australian cattle dog and 1/4 stub-tail Australian cattle dog. He has the border collie handsome tuxedo markings with bright amber eyes but the coat, body type and disposition of the cattle dog. A truly sweet, child friendly guy, Zip is completely house trained, only chews on dog toys, is quickly learning house manners, has good recall, walks well on a leash and knows some basic commands.
He would do best in a home with a secure fence for his own safety. He would not do well in apartments or with an invisible fence. Zip needs his very own person to love on, one that can help him become all that he can be.
