About Jaz

Jaz is an 8-month-old border collie mix and weighs around 45 pounds. He was immediately named “Jazzy Pants” thanks to his jazzy, happy personality! His tail wags nonstop! When he plays with his foster dog siblings he bounces, pounces, flips, flops, and rolls! He loves to chase a soccer ball and play tug of war. Occasionally he will retrieve a tennis ball. He quickly learned where the toy box is and moves from toy to ball to bone and back all day.

Jaz has been walking very well on a leash. He gets very excited when he sees it come out but doesn’t pull once we get going. He did not arrive to his foster home housebroken, but he has not had any accidents in the house! He does well in a crate overnight and while his people are away. He does not fuss in his crate but it is not his favorite place. He prefers to be with the people and will follow you to the kitchen, the bathroom, the couch, up the stairs, down the stairs, to the garage… and will sit outside and stare at us to be let inside after a potty break. Car rides were new to him but now he hops right in!

Jazzy is full puppy, full time! He is still young and is learning the rules of the world, and the house. His new family will need to be patient as he learns acceptable house behaviors, and will probably want to keep their shoes put away. Once he knows right from wrong he would be a great bed dog. After his energy is spent he is super snuggly and soaks up the pets on his silky fur. (He’s seriously the softest.) He knows the commands sit, down, and shake, and his vocabulary is growing to include the words outside, potty, walk, car, cookie, and crate. Jaz has not been tested with cats or small children. He is still learning not to mouth us or take our things, so very young family members might not be for the best. Jaz requires a physical fenced yard (no apartments).

This boy has the sweetest, happiest temperament. He was even a sweetheart at the vet! If you are looking for a very best friend, with freckles on his nose and toes, who squeaks when he yawns, and has an exclamation mark of a tail, Jazzy is your guy!!

Jazzy is being fostered in Grovetown, Georgia, and will be available for adoption in early February.

Applicants must have a satisfactory vet reference which includes an annual exam, vaccines, a heartworm test, and purchase of monthly, year-round heartworm preventatives.
