When you find a dog that you’d like to adopt through PRBCR, here’s how the adoption process works.
Adoption Process
Fill out an online application with information about your family, home, pets and what kind of dog you’re looking for. Someone from our team will call your vet to make sure pets are up to date on annual vaccinations, heartworm test, and take monthly preventative heartworm medication.
If a foster feels that you might be a good fit for his or her dog, you’ll get an email or phone call. If we don’t have the right dog for you now, you’ll still here from someone at the rescue within a few days. Be sure to supply contact information on your application.
Once you and a foster have found a good match, we’ll arrange a home visit. This is to make sure you’ll provide a safe environment for a dog and to make sure that we are matching you with a great dog that fits your lifestyle.
When you and a foster think you might have a match, you’ll arrange a time to meet. The goal is to see how the dog gets along with you, your family and any other pets you have.
Once you find the perfect match, you’ll sign the adoption agreement, pay the adoption fee of $300 ($350 for puppies), and start down the road to a lifetime of happiness with your new PRBCR dog! We love happy tails and look forward to photos and updates. We always need help and hope you’ll consider joining us as a volunteer.
"PRBCR is an organization like no other I have found. the members care so deeply about the incredible border collie breed and sacrifice much on personal levels to find, rehabilitate, and place them in the best forever homes for those in need. I am in awe of what is accomplished."
"I adopted my Kaylee thru this organization. They are the best and so is my doggie?"
"these people go above and beyond to rescue border collies, rehabilitate them physically and mentally to assure that they are happy and thrive in their furever homes!"
"Yes!! All of my three sweet babies are alumni of PRBCR. These people work their butts off to save as many BCs as they possibly can! I will always help this organization as they are wonderful and are well deserved with any help to save more lives."
